I’d like to help you baby, but I haven’t got the time. I’d like to help you baby, but I haven’t got the time. Your bank account is empty and I haven’t got your dime. I hear the way you’re talkin’, like your on a TV show But you just wait now baby, you gonna reap what you sow. I’d like to help you baby, but I haven’t got the time. Your bank account is empty and I haven’t got your dime. You just can’t seem to tell the truth, no matter what you say. And I’ve no doubt you’d sell your soul just to get your way I’d like to help you baby, but I haven’t got the time. Your bank account is empty and I haven’t got your dime. You never planned for trouble, you know it’s true And now it looks like something bad’s gonna happen to you I’d love to help you baby, but it’s time you left this town You know your bank account is empty and you are going down.

Won't somebody tell me, answer if you can Want somebody tell me, what is the soul of a man I'm going to ask the question, answer if you can If anybody here can tell me, what is the soul of a man? I've traveled in different countries, I've traveled foreign lands I've found nobody to tell me, what is the soul of a man I saw a crowd stand talking, I came up right on time Was hearing the doctor and the lawyer, say a man ain't nothing but his mind. I read the bible often, I tries to read it right As far as I can understand, a man is more than his mind When Christ stood in the temple, the people stood amazed Was showing the doctors and the lawyers, how to raise a body from the grave

about

Blues Contraption developed as the result of expanding my solo guitar playing into a trio format. All arrangements are based on my solo arrangements and the drums and bass were supplied by whoever was available for the gig. Thus the idea of a "contraption." Everyone was expected to bring something unique to the mix and so this collection of songs is fluid and changes from song to song.

The original artwork was supplied by Louis Murphy.

about

Jerry Kosak Saint Paul, Minnesota

My musical voice is a synthesis of diverse styles, freely connected, pushing categorical boundaries. There is no “should” to my voice; rather, each sound, chord, and rhythm presents itself as an opportunity for the music to unfold in a unique or unconventional direction, resulting in performances of intriguing music that challenges expectations but also sounds familiar and beautiful. ... more
